About the role

Vision for Education are seeking a passionate, supportive, and motivated Youth Worker to work in local schools, located in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people by supporting their personal, social, emotional, and educational development.

The successful candidate will work closely with students, families, teachers, and external agencies to provide guidance, mentoring, and early intervention support for pupils who may be facing barriers to learning or personal challenges.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Build positive and trusted relationships with students across the school.
  • Support pupils with emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
  • Deliver one-to-one mentoring and small group interventions.
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience, communication, and social skills.
  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding, pastoral, and SEND teams.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external support services where appropriate.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have -

  • Experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, or community setting.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • The ability to manage challenging situations professionally.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.

The Role

  • Deliver personalised learning support to help each pupil reach their full potential.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and external professionals to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Foster a calm, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that encourages confidence, independence, and good behaviour.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress regularly, adapting teaching approaches to promote both academic achievement and personal development.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues to ensure positive outcomes for all learners.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified teacher (PGCE/QTS/QTLS essential).
  • Has experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly those working below age-related expectations.
  • Is patient, resilient, and creative in their approach to teaching.
  • Has strong behaviour-support skills.
  • Can work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

To be considered for the role, you will:

  • Have a suitable qualification, (QTS/QTLS essential).
  • Have experience of working with children with special education needs and disabilities.
  • Be confident in your abilities and skills to promote happy and confident learners.
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications.
