Vision for education are seeking Youth Support Workers to join our team for a long term supply role in an SEMH school from September 2022 in Scunthorpe.

About the role

The role of Youth Support Worker will involve you working within a specialist SEMH setting in Scunthorpe. This is a full time temporary to permanent position starting in September. The role will require 1:1 support and general classroom support. Due to the needs of the students a patient, understanding and compassionate person is necessary. A sense of humour is also a desirable trait.

About the school

The students at the school are KS3 and KS4 with SEMH and trauma based needs, often resulting in challenging behaviour and disengagement from education. A creative approach to support is often required.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Youth Support Worker you will:
  • Have a minimum of 20 days experience in a school based support role

Salary

Depending on experience

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • A reference to cover a 6 week period (this does not have to be full time) experience on a relevant setting as above
  • Previous experience of working with behaviours that challenge is highly desirable
  • Able to engage with and support young people who are disengaged from mainstream education
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to apply for one
  • The ability to work on initiative and proactively
  • The desire to work with young people with special educational needs
  • Available full time
