About the role

Teaching Assistant for Challenging Behaviour
Full-time positions | Immediate & future starts

We are currently looking for committed, confident and supportive Teaching Assistants for Challenging Behaviour to join specialist SEN schools and alternative provisions across Bristol. These long-term positions are ideal for anyone who genuinely wants to make a difference to young people who need structure, encouragement and consistency every day.

As a Teaching Assistant for Challenging Behaviour, you’ll be working with pupils who may have SEMH needs, trauma-related behaviours, autism, ADHD or other complex barriers to learning. The role calls for someone who is calm under pressure, able to build trust, and confident supporting pupils who may find school difficult.

We’re looking for a Teaching Assistant for Challenging Behaviour who:

• Has experience working with challenging behaviour in schools, care, youth work or similar settings
• Can use de-escalation, positive behaviour support and relationship-based approaches
• Brings patience, resilience and a genuine desire to see pupils succeed
• Understands how trauma and emotional needs can impact behaviour
• Can build positive, consistent relationships with pupils who need clear boundaries
• Works well with teachers, mentors and wider support teams
• Can adapt learning tasks and routines to help pupils stay engaged
• Has strong safeguarding awareness and a reliable, professional attitude
• Is committed to long-term stability for the pupils they support

The Role:

• Working within SEMH schools, PRUs, alternative provisions and specialist SEN schools

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
• Helping pupils with emotional regulation, routines, social skills and classroom engagement
• A great opportunity for a Teaching Assistant for Challenging Behaviour who wants to build real progress over time

This is a zero hour contract, with the opportunity to become permanent.

Why Work With Us:

• Competitive pay, paid weekly
• No umbrella companies
• Long-term placements carefully matched to your skills and confidence levels
• Access to behaviour support and de-escalation training
• A consultant who understands what a strong Teaching Assistant for Challenging Behaviour needs in a school
• Opportunities to grow your experience across a range of specialist provisions
• Referral bonuses for recommending other professionals

If you’re a Teaching Assistant for Challenging Behaviour who is driven, resilient and ready to support young people who need consistency and understanding, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today and take the next step in your career as a Teaching Assistant for Challenging Behaviour in one of Bristol’s specialist schools.
