SEN Support Worker - Yate & Thornbury

(Must be able to drive and have access to a car)
Experience with PMLD / Complex Needs Required

About the role

Are you a compassionate, reliable individual with experience supporting children or young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) or complex needs? We’re looking for dedicated SEN Support Workers to provide essential assistance to pupils in specialist school settings across Yate and Thornbury.

This role involves travelling between settings, so you’ll need to be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle - but the heart of the job is about care, consistency, and making every day safer and more positive for the young people you support.

About the Role

As an SEN Support Worker, you will:

  • Support pupils with PMLD and complex needs in the classroom and during daily routines.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe and understood.

  • Assist with communication, sensory activities, mobility support, and personal care where needed.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support teams to meet each pupil’s individual needs.

  • Travel between schools or pupil homes when required (fuel allowance/expenses can be discussed).

Every day will be different, and always meaningful.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting individuals with PMLD / complex medical or physical needs is essential.

  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to drive and regular access to your own car.

  • Reliability, flexibility, and a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable young people.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will undergo Enhanced DBS checks, reference checks, and full compliance procedures.

Training is available, but a background in SEN, care, or support work will help you thrive in the role.

Why Join Us?

  • Rewarding work that directly impacts young people with high-level needs.

  • Competitive weekly pay (PAYE).

  • Opportunities to work in outstanding specialist schools across South Gloucestershire.

  • Ongoing training and professional development.

  • Supportive consultants who understand SEN environments.
