About the Role

We are seeking confident, adaptable, and enthusiastic individuals to work as Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Braintree. This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teaching.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-set lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged and on task. This is an excellent opportunity to build classroom management skills and gain first-hand experience in a school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during teacher absences
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
• Support students in completing assigned work
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour

About You

• A degree or relevant experience working with young people (e.g. coaching, tutoring, youth work)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confident managing groups of students aged 11–16 (and up to 18 in some settings)
• A genuine interest in education and becoming a teacher
• Flexible, reliable, and proactive attitude
