About the role

Challenging Behaviour Support Worker (SEMH) – North Bristol & Surrounding Areas

Location: North Bristol, Filton, Bradley Stoke, Patchway, Almondsbury, and nearby areas
Contract: Full-time / long-term supply (with permanent opportunities)
Pay: Competitive weekly pay (dependent on experience)

Are you passionate about helping children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs thrive - both in and beyond the classroom?

Do you have the resilience, empathy, and enthusiasm to support students who learn differently and need consistent, compassionate guidance?

We’re recruiting on behalf of a fantastic all-through SEMH school in North Bristol, which provides specialist education for children and young people who require a nurturing, therapeutic approach to learning.

This unique school focuses on hands-on, experiential learning, offering students access to forest school, swimming, gymnastics, outdoor education, and other activities that support emotional regulation, confidence, and life skills.

The Role

As a Challenging Behaviour Support Worker, you’ll:

  • Support children aged 5-16 with SEMH needs and complex behavioural profiles.

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups, encouraging participation in both academic and therapeutic sessions.

  • Help students regulate emotions and re-engage with learning in a safe, structured, and caring environment.

  • Assist with enrichment activities such as forest school, swimming, sensory play, and outdoor projects.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to deliver personalised learning and behaviour plans.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEMH, autism, or behavioural challenges (in schools, youth work, or care settings).

  • Calm, confident, and resilient, with a natural ability to build trust and de-escalate challenging situations.

  • Active and hands-on, comfortable engaging in outdoor and physical learning environments.

  • Aware of trauma-informed approaches and safeguarding best practice.

  • Flexible and compassionate, able to adapt to each child’s individual needs.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) is required - support is available with this process.

What You’ll Gain

  • A rewarding opportunity to work in a school that values holistic, practical learning and emotional growth.

  • Weekly pay that reflects your experience and skills.

  • Access to ongoing CPD, including Safeguarding and Behaviour Management training.

  • Dedicated support from specialist consultants who understand SEMH education.

  • Long-term and permanent opportunities within an outstanding local provision.

  • The chance to make a real, lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

✨ Why Join This School?

This isn’t your average classroom, it’s a place where empathy, creativity, and emotional support come first. Every child is given the tools, space, and trust they need to succeed in their own way.

If you’re ready to be part of a team that champions inclusion, resilience, and individual growth, we’d love to hear from you.
