Vision for Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioural Support Assistant to work within a school in Birmingham.

The Role:

  • We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and resilient Behavioural Support Assistant to join our dedicated team within a specialist school catering for pupils aged 4–11 with a wide range of complex needs. These needs may include social, emotional, and SEMH challenges, communication difficulties, and additional learning needs. The role requires someone who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young learners by providing consistent support, understanding, and encouragement.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and the wider support team to implement individualised behaviour support strategies. You will play a key role in helping pupils manage their behaviour, develop emotional regulation skills, and build positive relationships with others. This includes supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom, promoting engagement with learning activities, and ensuring that each child feels safe, valued, and supported within a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-1 and small-group behavioural support for pupils.
  • Use a range of approaches to help pupils develop self-regulation, resilience and positive coping strategies.
  • Support pupils during lessons to help them remain engaged, focused and safe.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage participation and improve well-being.
  • Adapt learning strategies to meet individual needs and individual learning plans.

About you:

To be considered for the Behaviour Support Assistant role, you will:

Hold suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.

Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students

Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
