Vision for Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioural Support Assistant to work within SEND settings in Birmingham.
The Role:
- Provide 1-1 and small-group behavioural support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Support pupils in managing their behaviour using positive, consistent, and child-centred approaches.
- Assist in the implementation of individual behaviour support plans and education, health and care plans (EHCPs).
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils during lessons to maintain engagement, focus, and emotional regulation.
- Help pupils develop social skills, resilience, and positive coping strategies.
- Assist with communication needs, including the use of alternative communication methods where required.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage participation and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one and small-group behavioural support to pupils.
- Use a variety of strategies to help pupils develop self-regulation, resilience, and positive coping skills.
- Support pupils during lessons to ensure they remain engaged, focused, and safe.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage participation and enhance wellbeing.
- Adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs and align with personalised learning plans.

About you:
To be considered for the Behaviour Support Assistant role, you will:
Hold suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
