Vision for Education is recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant SENDCo to join a successful and inclusive secondary school in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional looking to further develop their leadership experience within special educational needs and inclusion.

The Role

The successful candidate will support the SENDCo in leading and managing SEND provision across the school. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the identification and assessment of students with SEND
  • Assisting with the development and monitoring of SEND support plans and interventions
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
  • Helping to maintain accurate SEND records and documentation
  • Supporting staff with inclusive teaching strategies and classroom support
  • Monitoring student progress and contributing to review meetings
  • Promoting an inclusive learning environment that enables all students to achieve their potential

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant experience within SEND support
  • Experience working with students with a range of additional needs
  • Good understanding of SEND legislation and inclusive practice
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting young people
