Vision for Education’s Cheshire branch is offering ten aspiring teachers in the North West free training, to provide them with the skills they need to work as Cover Supervisors in local secondary schools.
The one-day Cover Supervisor training course is aimed at school support staff who are looking to progress in their career and take the lead the classroom.
It’s also suitable for graduates who are looking to gain valuable skills and experience, to help them secure a place on a teacher training course.
Cover Supervisors provide short-term cover when the regular teacher is absent – they do not need to have a formal teaching qualification. They deliver pre-set work for a variety of subjects, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
Trainees will get the chance to put their training into practice after completing the short course, by joining Vision for Education’s supply pool, which provides day-to-day cover for secondary schools across Cheshire, Lancashire and Liverpool.
Applicants must have a honours degree (2:2 or above), or equivalent qualification, and their own transport, and will need to go through the necessary clearance checks. Experience of working with young people is desirable, but this does not have to be in a school setting.
