School attendance initiative makes every day count

Education recruitment agency Vision for Education has teamed up with five primary schools from the Irlam and Cadishead Cluster to launch their Attendance Hero initiative, to help promote the importance of attending school every day and arriving on time.

Over 1,500 pupils from Irlam Primary, Cadishead Primary, St Mary’s C of E Primary, Moorfield Primary and Fiddlers Lane Community Primary are taking part in the competition, which gives pupils who achieve 100% attendance the chance to win a Kindle Fire tablet each school term.

To celebrate the launch of the initiative at Cadishead Primary and Irlam Primary, students who attended school every day during the first week were entered into a prize draw.

Alistair Dermit, primary recruitment consultant from Vision for Education’s Manchester branch, presented the four winning students with a £5 Love to Shop voucher each and an Attendance Hero certificate.

“Vision for Education is committed to helping schools improve and promote good attendance, said Alistair Dermit.

“Going to school every day is vital to help children achieve and get the best possible start in life, so we are keen to extend the competition to other schools.”

Head Teacher at Cadishead Primary School, Neil Hargreaves, said: “Vision for Education’s attendance initiative is already having an impact in our school.

“All students in several Key Stage 1 and 2 classes achieved 100% attendance in the first week, which is amazing.

“Our pupil attendance levels are assessed by Ofsted. The target is 97%, so the fact that we have pupils, and whole classes, achieving 100% is a great achievement for the school.”

Vision for Education specialise in providing temporary and permanent teaching and support staff for primary, secondary and SEND (special education needs and disabilities) schools. They have 13 branches across the UK and are part of Tes - the global digital education company committed to supporting teaching and learning.

More than 100 primary schools across the country, with a total of over 35,000 pupils, are already participating in our attendance initiative. Schools interested in taking part or finding out more information, should get in touch with their local Vision for Education branch.
