The Scunthorpe Telegraph reports:

JAZZ hands, pitch-perfect notes and energetic dance routines are helping Glee fever sweep cross the county.

Talented singers, musicians and dancers ot the The Vale Of Ancholme Technology And Music College in Brigg took the title at North and North East Lincolnshire's first Glee Tournament.

The competition, which was organised by Vision For Education, proved just how popular glee clubs are becoming, thanks to the hit American television series.

Glee club leader and director of music Jayne Keeler said: "The win for Vale was the culmination of weeks of hard work for all 52 members of the group.

"The six-minute performance showcased the outstanding singing, dancing and drama skills of the group.

"It was based on three songs from the musical We Will Rock You and the schools samba band also provided a rhythmic backing for the songs.

"Dressed in red and black with vibrant make-up and artistic hair styles, the cast really set the scene as the Bohemians searching for the rock and roll music in this high-energy performance, which couldn't fail to impress both judges and audience."

Year 10 student Beth Johnson, 14, choreographed the routine.

"I love dancing and acting and it was a real pleasure to work a part of the team for the competition.

"We all worked exceptionally hard and put in all of our free time at lunch and after school.

"The glee club is extremely popular and it is nice because absolutely anyone can get involved.

"Our school certainly has a lot of talent and it was great to take the title."

Lukas Taylor, 15, said: "Performing the Queen medley was great fun and it is such a laugh rehearsing and performing with your friends.

"When the judges announced we were the winners we were absolutely overwhelmed. The other schools also did a really good job.

"We launched the club especially for the competition, but we are continuing it because it is so popular."
