Branksome Science College gets new TV
Simon Trenholm presents new TV to
pupils from Branksome Science College on behalf of Vision For Education.
“The Branksome Bugle”, the
College newspaper, is almost entirely
written by pupils in their own time.....during breaks, lunchtimes, before
school and often at home. With a little help from the school librarian it has
been turned into a full colour document which is distributed to 2500 homes in
the school catchment area. The newspaper has now been going for 18months.
The pupils are keen to write about
both local and world news. One
particular morning they were all in the library discussing the earthquake in Japan,
which had happened just a few hours earlier and were trying to find more
information but found there was to be little available on the internet at that
time. One student remarked that it would be really useful if they could have a
TV in the library so that they could listen to all the different news channels
to find out what was going on. The idea was put to the Head teacher; Mr
Kipling, who agreed that this would be a good idea.
Thanks to Vision for Education
that idea has become reality.
